Muscle pains can be ..... well .... a pain but luckily for most people, these aches and pains are minor and only last a short time.  But there are some people who were not that lucky and develop serious problems with their muscles and joints.  The most common is arthritis but there are other equally serious diseases that are less understood.

Those who have ever struggled with arthritis or knows someone who has had to deal with the condition might also be familiar with the condition of fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is defined as a general feeling of muscle pain and discomforting fatigue. While this may not seen like a serious condition based on the definition alone, the reality of the matter that is an incredible serious condition as many people who suffer from it have to go through an incredible amount of discomfort unless the condition of fibromyalgia is properly treated.

One of the reasons that there is not a good definition or understanding of fibromyalgia is that many of the symptoms are also symptoms that can be associated with other ailments, many of which are minor.  Because of this the disease often is misdiagnosed until the symptoms become very bad.


If there is a moral to this it would not to shirk off minor pain or assume that it is nothing severe it the pain reaches a significant, debilitating degree and occurs in frequent intervals. If the doctor does not seem to take your concerns are serious as you feel they merit, then it would be wise to get a second opinion so as not to let it go untreated.
